Mike Trout Provides Encouraging Injury Update on His Back Ahead of 2023 Season

Updated:

The Los Angeles Angels are aiming to finally end their postseason drought in 2023, and they'll need Mike Trout to do it. He remains arguably the best player in baseball when healthy, but for the last few years, his health hasn't exactly been a strong suit.

Mike Trout Injury Update

Between injuries and the pandemic, Trout has averaged just 99 games over his last five seasons combined. Last summer, the three-time MVP was diagnosed with a rare chronic back condition that put his future long-term health in doubt.

Fortunately for Los Angeles, Trout himself says things are good to go entering 2023, claiming his back is a "non-issue" heading into the season.

Trout tore it up last season upon returning from his injuries, ending the year with 40 home runs and 80 RBIs in just 119 games played and proving he's still an elite player whenever his body allows him to be on the field.

The Angels haven't made any massive upgrades to their roster this offseason and with Shohei Ohtani's free agency looming next winter, LA needs Trout as much as ever.
