Mike Tomlin Gives Encouraging First Update on Najee Harris' Week 12 Injury

Updated:

The Pittsburgh Steelers showed resilience during their comeback win over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 12. Making the victory even more impressive was the fact Pittsburgh lost starting running back Najee Harris in the first half and played the final two quarters without him.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin provided an encouraging first update on Harris following the win.

Tomlin told reporters there's no long-term concern with Harris' injury right now. He didn't provide any further updates on his running back, but it sounds like he's avoided anything serious.

The head coach also seemed to hint Harris will be able to practice in some capacity this week, which is a positive sign for his status ahead of a matchup against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

Pittsburgh's backfield is nursing several injuries right now, as backup Jaylen Warren missed this contest due to a hamstring issue. That left Benny Snell Jr. and Anthony McFarland Jr. to carry the load once Harris was sidelined. The duo combined for 92 rushing yards on Monday night, and Snell scored the game-winning touchdown from two yards out in the fourth quarter.

Snell and McFarland could lead the Steelers' ground game again if Harris and Warren remain sidelined in Week 13.

Pittsburgh is projected as a 1.5-point favorite against Atlanta, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.
