Malott vs Lainesse Prediction

Mike Mallot wasted no time showing UFC fans what he is all about as he defeated Mickey Gall via knockout during his debut in April. The 6-foot-1 fighter has showcased an ability to land punches early and often as he averages 5.02 significant strikes landed per minute at a 40% accuracy rate.

On the other side, Yohan Lainesse opened his UFC career with a loss to Gabe Green (KO/TKO) before he bounced back with a split decision win over Darian Weeks in September of 2022. The Canadian can knock out his opponent with a single punch, but is not always able to find the opening to do so.

This bout is likely going to be closer than the odds indicate, but Mallot is by no means a wrongful favorite here. The 31-year-old hasn't lost a professional fight since 2014 and can hold his own if this one turns into a grappling matchup, too. That kind of versatility should allow hime to come out on top.

I'll side with Mike Mallot to emerge victorious.

Malott vs Lainesse Best Bet

There's not a ton of value in backing Malott as a -250 favorite here as it would take a large wager to bring back a solid payout. Shifting gears to the method of victory is a logical move to make. Four of Malott's eight professional wins have come via knockout as he possesses a dangerous left hook.

Lainesse has already suffered one loss via knockout in the UFC and averages 3.66 strikes absorbed per minute. That kind of wear and tear will catch up if Lainesse is even able to make it into the later rounds of the bout. Fatigue tends to be a reason why fighters leave spots open that they usually don't.

Bet: Mike Malott by KO/TKO (TBD)
