With the 2022-23 college football regular season in the rearview mirror, bowl games are right around the corner. The Bahamas Bowl is set for kickoff on Friday, Dec. 16, and pits the Miami (OH) Redhawks against the UAB Blazers. UAB played in this bowl in 2017, while Miami (OH) has never made an appearance.

The Redhawks finished the season with a 6-6 overall record and are led by dual-threat quarterback Aveon Smith. He led the team with 1,137 passing yards and 5-3 rushing yards on the year. Meanwhile, UAB posted a 6-6 record behind the efforts of running back Dewayne McBride (1,713 rushing yards & 19 touchdowns).

Miami (OH) vs UAB Prediction & Pick

Miami (OH) needed to grind out an 18-17 win over the Ball State Cardinals in the regular season finale to become bowl-eligible. The Redhawks came back from a 15-point deficit, but scored less than 21 points for the seventh time this season. Their offense logs only 4.6 yards per play (No. 115 in FBS).

On the other side, UAB became bowl eligible thanks to a 37-27 win over Louisiana Tech in their regular season finale. It's worth noting the Blazers possess one of the most dominant rushing attacks in the country. They rank second is yards per carry (5.9) and sixth in rushing yards per game (244.3).

Miami (OH) has allowed 5.9 yards per carry over its last three games, so I'll back the Blazers here.

Final Score Prediction: Miami (OH): 17 | UAB: 24

Miami (OH) vs UAB Betting Trends

- Miami (OH) is 5-7 against the spread (ATS) this season.
- The total has hit the under in nine of Miami (OH)'s 12 games this season.
- UAB is 4-8 ATS this season.
- The total has hit the over in six of UAB's 12 games this season.

Miami (OH) vs UAB Best Bet

This game features one of the lowest point totals on the college football bowl slate for a reason. UAB has a tendency to drain the clock with its potent rushing attack, while Miami (OH)'s lackluster offense results in little scoring opportunities. Adding those two things together is not a recipe for a shootout.

Neither one of these defenses is allowing more than 25.5 points per game or over 5.5 yards per play, either. Expect to see a lot of punts early on in this football game. The total has hit the under in seven of Miami (OH)'s last nine games overall as well as in four of UAB's last five games played on a Friday.

Bet: Under 43.5 Points (-110)
