Mets Still Considerably Favored to Win the NL East on FanDuel Sportsbook

The New York Mets' NL East lead disappeared after suffering a 5-2 loss to the rival Atlanta Braves on Friday night. The Mets and Braves are now tied with identical 98-59 records, making it more than likely that the final two games in the series could decide who walks out with the division crown.

While things might seem grim after Friday's loss, Mets fans can breathe a sigh of relief. Heading into Game 2 of the series, New York is still FanDuel Sportsbook's -190 favorite to win the NL East over the regular season's final days.

Heading into last night's game, the Mets were -390 favorites to win the NL East for the first time since 2015 — the same year that they last made the World Series. The fact that they're still favored to achieve the feat proves that oddsmakers still have faith in Buck Showalter's club.

The Mets-Braves 2022 season series has been one of the more even rivalries across the Majors. They've met 17 games thus far, resulting in eight victories for Atlanta and nine for New York. This is a major factor, considering the first postseason tiebreaker stems from regular season head-to-head record. New York holds the edge.

Keeping that in mind, the Braves have beaten the Mets in four of the last five meetings, outscoring their rivals 33-14 over that stretch. Furthermore, Atlanta's .704 winning percentage since the beginning of August is tied with the Houston Astros for the best in the MLB.

With how evenly-matched the Braves and Mets have been, this year's NL East winner is anyone's guess. Needless to say, Saturday's 7:20 p.m. ET clash will play a pivotal role in who wins the 2022 NL East title.
