Memphis Grizzlies First Round Playoff Schedule 2023 (Times, Dates and TV Channel for Lakers Series)

Memphis Grizzlies First Round Playoff Schedule 2023 (Times, Dates and TV Channel for Lakers Series)

Updated:

The Memphis Grizzlies are headed back to the NBA Playoffs for the third straight season following an impressive 2022-23 regular season. Head coach Taylor Jenkins' team has its sights set on capturing the franchise's first Larry O'Brien Trophy, but up first is an opening-round series against a No. 7 seed.

Here's everything you need to know about the Grizzlies' first round series.

What Seed Are the Grizzlies in the 2023 NBA Playoffs?

The Grizzlies ended the regular season with a 51-31 record, which was good enough to finish No. 2 in the Western Conference. As is tradition, the 2-seed faces the 7-seed in the first round of the playoffs.

The No. 7 seed was determined via the NBA's Play-In Tournament. The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday night to earn the No. 7 seed and a date with the Grizzlies in the opening round.

Who Are the Grizzlies Playing in the 2023 Playoffs?

As the 2-seed, the Grizzlies will play the 7-seed Lakers in the first round of the NBA Playoffs. This will be a typical best-of-seven series that follows the 2-2-1-1-1 format. That means the better seed (Memphis) will host Games 1 and 2, plus Games 5 and 7 if those are necessary. The worse seed (Los Angeles) hosts Games 3 and 4, plus Game 6 if that is necessary.

Looking ahead, if the Grizzlies win this series and advance, they would face either the 3-seed Sacramento Kings or the 6-seed Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference semifinals, as the NBA playoff matchups do not re-seed in each round.
