The 2022 NCAA college football bowl game matchups have been revealed, including the Myrtle Beach Bowl. This year's version of the annual event will feature the Marshall Thundering Herd taking on the UConn Huskies.

After a bit of a rough patch in the middle of the year, Marshall has been on fire lately, winning its fourth straight game with a 28-23 effort against Georgia State last week. Meanwhile, UConn is out for revenge in Conway, SC after having its three-game winning streak snapped with a 34-17 loss to Army on Nov. 19.

Can Marshall finally be victorious after losing its last three bowl appearances? Or will UConn pick up the win in its first bowl game since 2015?

Marshall vs Connecticut Prediction & Pick

It's been a long time since UConn was in a bowl game. Ironically, that last appearance actually came against Marshall at the 2015 St. Petersburg Bowl, ending in a 16-10 victory for the Thundering Herd. Marshall has won a pair of bowl games since then, however, the most recent one came back in 2018.

Fortunately for Marshall, I expect its success to change this year. Though UConn has won three of its last four games, two of those victories came against Boston College and UMass, who have a combined 4-20 record. Sure, the Huskies did defeat a top FBS independent school too (Liberty), but that victory seems more like an anomaly.

UConn will have a tougher time against a Marshall defense that gives up the 10th-fewest points (18.4 PPG). Considering how the Huskies have an astonishing minus-16.8 scoring differential away from home in 2022, I don't see the Thundering Herd having any real issue putting the opposition away from the dust settles.

Back Marshall's defense leading the team to victory.

Final Score Prediction: Marshall: 26 | UConn: 18

Marshall vs Connecticut Best Bet

Whenever UConn losses this season, it's been by a notable margin. Five of the Huskies' six losses in 2022 have been by double-digit totals, losing each of those six games by an average of 26 points. Even if you take out a 59-0 loss to Michigan, it's still a 19.4-point average.

With Marshall having more recent bowl experience and also covering the spread in five of its last six outings, I'll take the Thundering Herd as -9.5 favorites.

Bet: Marshall -9.5 (-115)
