The 2022 MLB Playoffs continue to roll along, and one of the series many baseball fans are looking forward to is an ALDS matchup between the 1-seed Houston Astros and 5-seed Seattle Mariners.

The Astros leaned on veteran hitters and a strong pitching staff to win the second-most games in franchise history (106). Meanwhile, the Mariners secured their first postseason berth since 2001 and took advantage of it by sweeping the Toronto Blue Jays in the Wild Card Round.

Mariners vs Astros Prediction & Pick

There's no denying that the Mariners have a "team of destiny" feel to them. After all, they overcame an 8-1 deficit in Game 2 of the Wild Card Round to secure a sweep on the road in Toronto.

With that being said, their thrilling run comes to a stop here. The Astros are simply too talented, have tons of postseason experience and will be well-rested. Houston had the second-lowest ERA in baseball (2.90) and finished eighth in runs scored, so this is an elite pitching staff backed by a potent offense.

The Mariners have plenty of spunk, but the Astros have the championship pedigree.

Final Series Prediction: Astros Win 3-2
