Here's What the Mariners Could Offer in a Juan Soto Trade

Over the last week, a large portion of MLB trade rumors has focused on superstar Juan Soto after rejecting a $440 million megadeal from the Washington Nationals. Unsurprisingly, this has led to many clubs calling the Nationals about his availability, with the Seattle Mariners being one potential team in the hunt.

MLB.com has released an article looking at various Soto trade proposals, including one from Mariners insider Nick Aguilera. It'll take a steep price to land Soto and Aguilera knows that, hence why he has Seattle giving up six total players in his proposal.

Mariners Trade Rumors

Aguilera theorized deal sees the Mariners trading away a mixture of prospects and MLB players to land Soto. Top-100 MLB prospects Noelvi Marte (No. 19) and Harry Ford (No. 68) are a part of the deal, as well as Emerson Hancock and Juan Pinto, who rank No. 5 and No. 26, respectively, in Seattle's pipeline.

Aguilera's proposal also includes Major Leaguers George Kirby and Jarred Kelenic. Opening the 2022 season as Baseball America's No. 12-ranked prospect, Kirby has pitched well with the Mariners, going 2-3 in 12 starts with a 3.78 ERA and 1.244 WHIP.

Meanwhile, Kelenic is still trying to find consistency at the MLB level. Although he's yet to commit an error in the outfield in 197 innings this season, his offense hasn't always been there. He has three home runs and 10 RBIs in 30 games but is only slashing .140/.219/.291 over that span.

No matter how you look at it, that's a big price to pay for Soto. Having said that, he's a future Hall of Fame talent that only comes around so often. If the Mariners think that they have a realistic chance of landing him ahead of the trade deadline, they must pull the trigger.
