Dern vs Hill Prediction

Mackenzie Dern has had issues finding success lately. After a 4-0 run that saw her submit three opponents, the 30-year-old has dropped two of her last three fights. She most recently fell to Yan Xiaonan by majority decision at UFC Vegas 61, leaving time to tell if Dern has what it takes to rebound this weekend.

Meanwhile, Angela Hill has seemingly put her latest rough stretch in the rearview mirror. Things looked rough when Hill went 1-5 over a two-year span, but the former Invicta FC Strawweight Champion has since tallied back-to-back unanimous decision victories over Lupita Godinez and Emily Ducote.

At the end of the day, this is a fight between two opposite styles. Dern is a grappling expert while Hill does most of her work while striking on her feet. Keeping that in mind, I see Dern's submission skills leading her to victory. She's already submitted four of her last nine UFC opponents whereas Hill has lost by submission twice in her career.

While I'm sure Hill will land a few good shots, Dern's grappling will eventually tire her out, leading to the latter's 13th MMA victory.

Dern vs Hill Best Bet

I'm going with a double-chance option as the best bet, taking Dern to win by either submission or points at -180 odds. It's easy to rule out a KO/TKO win since Dern has zero knockouts to her name. While I'm confident that she can submit Hill, it's worth noting that she's gone three straight fights without a submission win.

There's also the possibility that Hill won't be finished at all, seeing as how each of her last nine fights has gone the distance. Although Dern is still in a good spot to win this fight, her lack of recent consistency makes a double-chance bet the best option.
