Los Angeles Kings First Round Playoff Schedule 2023 (Times, Dates and TV Channel for Oilers Series)

Los Angeles Kings First Round Playoff Schedule 2023 (Times, Dates and TV Channel for Oilers Series)

Updated:

The Los Angeles Kings are back in the NHL Playoffs after a successful 2022-23 season. The Kings haven't made it beyond the opening round since they won the Stanley Cup during the 2013-14 campaign, leaving time to tell if that trend changes against the Edmonton Oilers this year.

Here's everything you need to know about the Kings' first round series.

What Seed Are the Kings in the 2023 NHL Playoffs?

The Kings finished the 2022-23 NHL regular season with a 47-25-10 record, which earned them the No. 3 spot in the Pacific Division. Los Angeles was exciting to watch as Anze Kopitar led the club in points (74) in his 17th year with the franchise while Adrian Kempe hit the 40-goal mark for the first time in his career with 41 goals.

The Kings' last playoff appearance saw them eliminated by the Edmonton Oilers in seven games just last postseason.

Who Are the Kings Playing in the 2023 Playoffs?

As the Pacific Division's No. 3 team, the Kings will play the Oilers -- who posted the second-best record in the division -- in the first round of the NHL Playoffs. This will be a typical best-of-seven series that follows the 2-2-1-1-1 format. That means the better seed (Edmonton) will host Games 1 and 2, plus Games 5 and 7 if those are necessary. The worse seed (Los Angeles) hosts Games 3 and 4, plus Game 6 if that is necessary.

Looking ahead, if the Kings win this series and advance, they would face either the 1-seed Vegas Golden Knights or the Winnipeg Jets (second-place wild card team) in the Western Conference semifinals.
