List of Philadelphia Eagles' Full Coaching Staff Ahead of 2023 Super Bowl

Updated:

The Philadelphia Eagles are headed back to the Super Bowl after their dominant 2022 season. Making Philadelphia's success even more impressive is the fact the team recently overhauled its entire coaching staff, starting with the hiring of a new head coach, in the 2021 offseason.

Here's everything you need to know about Philly's coaching group before the Super Bowl.

Who is the Eagles Head Coach?

Nick Sirianni is the current head coach of the Eagles. He rose to prominence as the offensive coordinator for the Indianapolis Colts from 2018-2020, which led to him being hired by Philadelphia in 2021.

The Eagles went a solid 9-8 in Sirianni's first season at the helm. The team then took off in 2022, going 14-3 in the regular season and earning the No. 1 seed in the NFC. Philadelphia's 14 victories set a franchise record for most in a single regular season.

Sirianni was originally born in Jamestown, New York. He played D-III football at Mount Union before transitioning to the sidelines as a coach.

Who is the Eagles Offensive Coordinator?

The Eagles' offensive coordinator in the Super Bowl is Shane Steichen. He served in this role for the Los Angeles Rams during the 2020 season before being hired by Sirianni in the 2021 offseason. Since then, Steichen has helped his unit rank top 14 or better in both total yards and points in each of the past two seasons.

Philadelphia was No. 14 and No. 12 in those categories, respectively, during the 2021 regular season. The Eagles then dominated both of the areas in 2022, placing No. 3 in both.

Steichen is 37 years old. He was born in Sacramento, California. He broke into the NFL in 2011 and has since held various positions or coordinator roles.

Steichen is a finalist for the 2022 Associated Press Assistant Coach of the Year award for his work this past season.

Who is the Eagles Defensive Coordinator?

The Eagles' defensive coordinator in the Super Bowl is Jonathan Gannon. He was hired by Sirianni for his first-ever job as a DC in 2021 after previously serving as a scout and position coach in his career.

Philadelphia's defense has been strong ever since Gannon took over. The team ranked No. 10 in yards and No. 18 in points during his first year as coordinator. Thanks to some offseason moves, the Eagles then moved up to No. 2 and No. 8, respectively, in those categories, this past year.

Gannon is 39 years old. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio. His name has generated significant buzz around the league as a potential head-coaching candidate this offseason.
