Detroit Lions running back D'Andrew Swift has endured a season filled with injuries thus far. He has only played in four games and amassed 32 total rushing attempts total. Swift was able to suit up in Week 8, but was virtually invisible, only rushing for 6 yards on five carries. He did have 5 catches for 27 yards, but still, nowhere near himself.
D'Andre Swift Injury Update
Now, as the Lions prepare for their Week 9 game against the Green Bay Packers, Lions head coach Dan Campbell is sharing an update on Swift, and it's not exactly an encouraging one.
This sounds like a guy that is clearly still not guy that seems full healthy. The Lions' offense has not been impressive of late. Yes, they scored 27 points last week, but the two games prior to that, they averaged just 3.0 points.
Swift's versatility makes him a huge threat and the focal point of the offensive attack when he's healthy. It might be wise for the team to try and sit him down until he's 100 percent ready, especially with the team at 1-6 on the year.
Swift is viewed as the Lions' longterm back, so trying to force him into action in what is already a lost season seems unwise. If he's a true gametime decision away from being actually healthy, that's a different story, but if he puts up another poor performance, Detroit may have to take a different approach moving forward.
