Likely Michael Brantley Free Agency Price Tag Revealed

The Houston Astros have been soaking their World Series victory in over the last few days. The time for celebration is over, though, as the MLB's free agency period is set to begin. The Astros have several players hitting the open market, including veteran outfielder Michael Brantley.

A five-time All-Star with over 1,400 regular-season games under his belt, Brantley should see a ton of attention. While it remains to be seen which clubs will vie for his services, the 35-year-old's potential free agency price tag has since been revealed by MLB insider Kiley McDaniel.

McDaniel projects that Brantley will receive a contract in the neighborhood of $28 million over two years. For comparison, the Bellevue, WA native's last contract with the Astros was also for two years, albeit at $32 million instead.

McDaniel adds that his sources believe that "there should be enough interest [in Brantley] for a multiyear deal. One source described the former Silver Slugger as being worthy of the "proven hitter premium," so it won't be surprising if he secures one more decent-sized payday.

Brantley only suited up for 64 games due to a nagging shoulder injury. Despite being kept off the field since the end of June, he was productive in the games he did play, racking up five home and 26 RBIs while slashing .288/.370/.416 in 243 at-bats.

With a World Series ring finally in his possession, Brantley is the perfect player that can help a contender get to the next level.
