Lane Johnson is inarguably one of the best offensive tackles in the league. The 10th-year pro has not allowed a sack since the 2020 NFL season and keeps quarterback Jalen Hurts protected at all times. His efforts haven't always been recognized by others, though, and he's justifiably not happy about it.

Johnson was named to the Pro Bowl from 2017-19 before an injury limited him to only seven games played in 2020. The veteran lineman returned to play 13 games in 2021 and was named to the All-Pro second team. However, he did not earn a Pro Bowl nod and was left off NFL Network's top 100 list.

When it comes to ProFootballFocus, Johnson explained that the grading formula used does not take into account factors like time to throw or whether a tackle is protecting on his own or not. It's why he believes his run-blocking grades have historically ranked in the middle of the pack over recent years.

“I don’t know what the other side thinks, I can’t understand it. But I know the people who play against him and the people who are around him understand how special the guy really is.”

He may not be getting as much outside recognition as he deserves, but Johnson is viewed as a crucial player to this team by Philly fans. The 32-year-old has allowed only 2 sacks over his last 50 games played and the Eagles are 64-42-1 when he is active compared to12-20 when he is inactive.

A perfect opportunity for Johnson to show off his elite technique and underrated agility comes on Sunday Night Football this week, when Philadelphia will look to remain undefeated in an NFC East clash with the Dallas Cowboys. Stopping DeMarcus Lawrence and Micah Parsons will be Johnson's job.

The Eagles are currently 6.5-point home favorites over the Cowboys on FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.
