Kyle Shanahan Reveals Injury Return Timeline for Deebo Samuel

The San Francisco 49ers' terrible injury luck struck again in Week 14, as star wide receiver Deebo Samuel was carted off of the field with a scary-looking leg injury. Thankfully, the initial reports have indicated Samuel avoided anything season-ending.

Now 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan has revealed a return timeline for his stud playmaker.

Deebo Samuel Injury Update

Shanahan told reporters Samuel is expected to be back in about "3-ish" weeks. That's far from concrete, but it at least provides an estimation of the wideout's return.

The good news is that Samuel may still be able suit up in the regular season based on that timeline. San Francisco has four games remaining on its schedule before the postseason, so Jan. 1 at the Las Vegas Raiders or Jan. 8 at home against the Arizona Cardinals seem like possible return dates for Samuel.

Of course, the 49ers will exercise the utmost caution with their All-Pro. The team could also lock up the NFC West crown and a top seed in the playoffs by the time Samuel is healthy again anyways, so his return could be delayed until the postseason instead.

San Francisco will certainly miss the Pro Bowler in the meantime. He's racked up 840 yards from scrimmage and 5 total touchdowns in 2022 while dealing with a few nagging injuries. Hopefully this time off allows him to come back fully refreshed for a possible Super Bowl run, as the 49ers are tied for the fourth-best title odds on FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.
