Kyle Pitts Weighs in on Lack of Usage During 2022 Season

The 2022 campaign has been a major step back for Kyle Pitts as a pass-catcher. After posting one of the best rookie seasons by a tight end ever, Pitts has been used primarily as a blocker this year, causing major frustration on behalf of Atlanta Falcons fans and fantasy managers who want to see him more involved.

Now the man himself has weighed in on his usage so far in 2022.

ESPN's Mike Rothstein recently dove deep on Atlanta's puzzling deployment of Pitts this season. It's all part of an effort to make him a more complete talent at tight end, and he's on board with it.

Pitts is embracing the challenge of evolving into more than just a receiver. He's now going to war in the trenches, and it's something he welcomes, especially since it's helped his team win games.

Though outsiders are disturbed by Atlanta's utilization of Pitts, it's great that he's not bothered by it at the moment. There's stories every week around the league about players not happy with their roles and requesting a change of scenery. Pitts, meanwhile, sounds happy to do whatever helps this offense.

Pitts' evolution as a tight end is commendable, but it's not like the Falcons used the No. 4 pick on him to block full-time. He earned a Pro Bowl nod as a rookie for his rare receiving ability, and Atlanta is doing a disservice by not maximizing his potential as a pass-catcher.

After scoring his first touchdown on U.S. soil last week, hopefully more opportunities like that are on the way for the unicorn TE talent.
