Klay Thompson's Stats When Facing Elimination Are Ridiculous

Steph Curry is one of the most well-known superstars in the NBA, but that level of notoriety can often overshadow his fellow "Splash Brother," Klay Thompson. While Curry's status is well deserved, it shouldn't come at Thompson's expense. Simply put: Thompson is one of the most clutch players in basketball.
In fact, when push comes to shove, it's often Thompson who digs the Golden State Warriors out of a hole, not Curry. And nowhere is that more evident than when looking at Thompson's stats in elimination games.

In his last three games when facing elimination, Thompson is averaging 6.3 3-pointers per game while shooting a ludicrous 55.9 percent from beyond the arc.
Thompson put his shooting on display once again in Game 5 of the 2019 NBA Finals, sinking seven 3-pointers on 13 attempts. The fact that he did this while being hounded by the Toronto Raptors' elite perimeter defense makes it all the more impressive.
Thompson is also shooting 57.6 percent from 3-point range in the 2019 NBA Finals, and Golden State didn't look the same without him in Game 3.
In the 2016 WCF, Klay Thompson hit 11 3-pointers against the Thunder to set a playoff record.

"Game 6 Klay" is the stuff of legend. Will we see it again tonight? ? pic.twitter.com/qYuABpljy7
Additionally, Thompson's performance in Game 6 of the 2016 Western Conference Finals is one of the most clutch performances in NBA history. Thompson singlehandedly kept the Warriors in the game, scoring 41 points and nailing 11 3-pointers.
With Kevin Durant ruled out for the rest of the season, the Warriors will likely need someone to step up in order to beat the Raptors. Thankfully, Thompson looks more than ready to answer the bell tonight in Game 6.
