Kelee Ringo Scouting Report
Ringo joined head coach Kirby Smart's Georgia team as a top-10 national recruit but was redshirted in his first year in 2020. He stepped into a starting role in 2021 and never let it go, logging 34 tackles, 8 pass breakups and 2 interceptions. Ringo was named to the SEC All-Freshman team for his efforts.
The Washington native made a name for himself when he took an interception 79 yards to the end zone in the 2022 College Football Championship. He followed up the hype by posting 42 tackles, 7 pass breakups and 2 interceptions while being named a second-team All-SEC player in 2022.
Ringo's game sticks out from the rest of this cornerback class due to the fact that he is rarely ever beaten by a vertical route thanks to his elite speed, but he is also rarely beaten over the middle thanks to his ability to read routes. His instincts give him a shot to shine in numerous defensive coverages.
Ringo is not a player without flaws, though, as shifty wide receivers get the best of him at times due to his slow change-of-direction abilities. Improving his footwork would go a long way in getting rid of that weakness. Overall, Ringo has the intangibles needed to go one-on-one with any pass-catcher.
Kelee Ringo NFL Draft Prediction
NFL teams in need of help at cornerback are in luck this year given the depth of talent at the position. A player like Ringo may drop farther down the board as a result, which is crazy for a guy who started on the best defense in the country and won back-to-back national titles.
The Steelers have the first pick of the second round (No. 32 overall) and line up as a great landing spot for Ringo. After all, Pittsburgh already hosted the Georgia standout with a private dinner, so interest is brewing. The team also lacks any sort of depth when it comes to the current secondary.
Cameron Sutton left the team in free agency and was subsequently replaced by the signing of Patrick Peterson. However, Peterson's best days are behind him and adding a young stud like Ringo to learn under the eight-time Pro Bowler would be worthwhile. Pittsburgh could even take Ringo at No. 17.
Prediction: Pittsburgh Steelers (Round 2, 32nd overall)
