Keion White Scouting Report

White actually began his college career as a tight end. The two-star prospect landed at Old Dominion, where he made a minimal impact on offense (11 catches, 124 yards) in six games as a freshman in 2018.

White's development into a top prospect took off, however, once he transitioned to the defensive line as a sophomore. The North Carolina native turned heads after recording a whopping 19 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks during the 2019 campaign.

The pass rusher then sat out a year following his transfer to Georgia Tech, and his 2021 season was cut short due to an ankle injury. He bounced back in a major way in 2022, turning back the clock to his 2019 performance with 14 TFL and a career-high 7.5 sacks.

The most obvious strength of White's game is his mixture of size and athleticism. At 6-foot-5, 285 pounds, the EDGE is able to completely overwhelm smaller opponents. With speed to boot, White can just as easily beat opposing offensive linemen with his quickness, making him a nightmare to match up with.

That being said, it's apparent White overwhelmingly relies on his physical assets to make an impact. As a result, he is not as technically sound for an EDGE, which could become a problem at the next level where he's facing NFL players who can negate his physical advantages.

Keion White NFL Draft Prediction

White is the classic physical freak with high upside that NFL franchises fall in love with every draft season. Though he's lacking in experience and refinement, some teams will be eager to scoop him up in hopes of tapping into his full potential.

The Steelers make a ton of sense as a landing spot for the former Yellow Jackets standout. White could learn a lot about being a successful NFL-level pass rusher from T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith, and the presence of both of those players means he can focus on his development to begin his career.

Pittsburgh boasts two second-round picks at No. 32 and No. 49, putting the team in an ideal position to land White early on Day 2. He'd give the Steelers an exciting prospect to develop into a defensive end or EDGE in their system.

Prediction: Pittsburgh Steelers (Round 2, 49th overall)
