Khachanov vs Tsitsipas Australian Open Schedule & Info

2023 Australian Open Men's Semifinals Match
No. 18 Karen Khachanov vs. No. 3 Stefanos Tsitsipas
Date: Thursday, Jan. 26, 2023
Start Time: 10:30 p.m. ET
Venue: Rod Laver Arena — Melbourne, Australia

A spot in the finals is on the line as No. 18 Karen Khachanov and No. 3 Stefanos Tsitsipas face off in 2023 Australian Open action. Khachanov had a two-set lead over Sebastian Korda before he won via walkover to advance to the semifinals of a Grand Slam tournament for the second time in his career.

Meanwhile, Tsitsipas made quick work of Jiri Lehecka in a three-set victory on Tuesday to advance to the Australian Open semifinals for the fourth time in his career. He is still searching for that first Grand Slam title, though. Will Tsitsipas get one step closer or will Khachanov pull off a surprising upset?

Khachanov vs Tsitsipas Head-to-Head Stats & Betting Trends

- Stefanos Tsitsipas is 5-0 straight up in five head-to-head matches against Karen Khachanov.
- Tsitsipas defeated Khachanov in three sets in the most recent meeting at the Italian Open on May 22, 2022.
- Khachanov defeated No. 29 Sebastian Korda in three sets in the 2023 Australian Open quarterfinals.
- Tsitsipas defeated Jiri Lehecka in three sets in the 2023 Australian Open quarterfinals.

Khachanov vs Tsitsipas Prediction & Pick

Khachanov continued to lean on his powerful serve in the quarterfinals, racking up 12 aces and posting a win percentage of 81% on first serve. His ability to rocket the ball over the net gives him an immediate advantage, but he is going to have to play the best tennis of his life to win on Thursday.

After all, Tsitsipas has beaten Khachanov in all five of his head-to-head matchups against him. The 24-year-old has only dropped two sets across the first five rounds of the Australian Open and has showcased tremendous determination during long rallies. Tsitsipas is firing on all cylinders right now.

I trust Tsitsipas' experience in Melbourne to guide him past Khachanov, but it's not going to be easy.

Winner: Stefanos Tsitsipas

Khachanov vs Tsitsipas Best Bet

Khachanov may not have come out on top in any of his five matches against Tsitsipas, but he did take the first set in two of those battles. That's notable considering the 26-year-old out of Russia has also not dropped a single first set in this tournament. His serve has been on point right out of the gate.

While that does make backing Khachanov to win the first set at +140 a viable option, I find myself leaning toward taking Tsitsipas to win 3-1, instead. Khachanov may be able to seize some early momentum, but Tsitsipas has proven that his forehand and accuracy allows him to outlast his foes.

Bet: Stefanos Tsitsipas 3-1 (+280)
