Kansas City Chiefs Training Camp Dates, Schedule & Location 2022

Updated:

Teams across the NFL are preparing to ramp up for the 2022 regular season with the start of training camp. Of course, the Kansas City Chiefs will be on of the squads to take the field as the preseason nears.

Here's everything Chiefs fans need to know about training camp this year.

When Does Kansas City Chiefs Training Camp Start?

Each team has two separate start dates for training camp, as rookies are often required to report a few days before veterans. Wide receiver Sky Moore and the rest of the NFL newbies will report on Friday, July 22.

Then, on Tuesday, July 26, Kansas City's veterans are mandated to report for training camp. This gives vets only a few weeks to prepare for the team's first preseason game on Aug. 13.

Chiefs rookies are reporting for training camp on July 22, followed by vets on July 26. Kansas City is then scheduled to host open practices up until Thursday, Aug. 18. That'll be the final day of workouts before the team's second preseason game takes place.

Kansas City opens its preseason schedule on Saturday, Aug. 13 against the Chicago Bears. The Chiefs will then play again on Aug. 20 (vs. the Washington Commanders) and Aug. 25 (vs. the Green Bay Packers) before the regular season begins.

The Chiefs will suit up on Sunday, Sept. 11 against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1 action.

Chiefs Training Camp News

Pay attention to whether or not offensive tackle Orlando Brown is around for the start of training camp. Reports claim the 26-year-old may hold out after failing to come to an agreement with the team on a long-term extension. There seems to be growing frustrations on both sides here.

One position battle to keep an eye on in Kansas City is at the running back position. Clyde Edwards-Helaire only played in 10 games last season due to injuries and the front office signed veteran Ronald Jones in free agency as insurance. Jones could steal the starting job with a strong camp showing.
