Kadarius Toney Tweets Shocking Update on Hamstring Injury Following Chiefs Trade

Updated:

The Kansas City Chiefs made waves on Thursday when they acquired contentious wide receiver Kadarius Toney from the New York Giants in exchange for a pair of draft picks.

Toney brings a wealth of off-field drama to his new Chiefs squad, but is a first-round draft talent with less than two years of NFL experience.

Amongst the many questions Chiefs fans have about this trade regards the young wideout's health. Toney's been sidelined since Week 2 with a hamstring issue. Shortly after news of the trade broke, Toney tweeted a shocking update on his injured hamstring.

According to Toney, he's not actually hurt (at least anymore). The Tweet read, "That Joke Would’ve Been Funny If I Was Actually Hurt Still Lol…..Irrelevant people don’t get updates."

It's unclear which joke Toney is referring to, but he's clearly alluding that he's fully recovered from the hamstring injury. Perhaps Brian Daboll and the Giants were playing a bit of coy roster management because they're fed up with his underwhelming performances.

That wouldn't be the hardest thing to believe. Daboll was not leading the Giants when the franchise drafted Toney, and the polarizing figure could have easily worn out his welcome.

It'll be interesting how quickly the Chiefs are able to slide Toney into the starting lineup. He joins a wide receiver room looking for more talent after Tyreek Hill's offseason departure and a head coach willing to take chances on players that bring off-field baggage. Think Josh Gordon or Michael Vick dating back to Andy Reid's Eagles days.
