Marquez vs Barriault Prediction

Saturday offers a chance at redemption for Julian Marquez and Marc-Andre Barriult. Each fighter is looking to move up in the rankings but is coming off a disappointing loss. Marquez fell short against Gregory Rodrigues in June and Barriault was defeated by Anthony Hernandez back in September.

It's interesting to note that both of these fighters are reckless in the ring as they dish out a lot of punches, but take on a ton of damage as well. In fact, Marquez and Barriault each average at least 4.18 significant strikes landed per minute as well as 3.84 significant strikes absorbed per minute.

That clash of aggressive styles could lead to a ground game during the later rounds as each fighter gets fatigued. That is where the advantage goes to Marquez. The 32-year-old averages 3.0 submission attempts per 15 minutes, which is a mark that shines in comparison to Barriault's average of 0.1.

I'll side with Julian Marquez to come out on top.

Marquez vs Barriault Best Bet

Marquez has a chance to make Barriault submit on Saturday, which obviously makes backing that result at +550 odds intriguing. I'm going to stick with backing Marquez on the moneyline, though, as it wouldn't be surprising to see the "Cuban Missile Crisis" get this one done with an early knockout.

Barriault is an experienced UFC fighter, but his 3-5 record at this level leaves a lot to be desired. His first three losses came via decision, but he has been knocked out as well as submitted within the last year. I expect Marquez to earn the upset in Las Vegas by wearing Barriault down one punch at a time.

Bet: Julian Marquez ML (+124)
