Josh Jacobs Reveals Shocking Info on Raiders' QB Search

Updated:

The Las Vegas Raiders are at a standstill as they look to trade former starting quarterback Derek Carr before his contract guarantees on Feb. 15. Carr was in action this past weekend at the Pro Bowl alongside teammates like running back Josh Jacobs, and the former made it clear he won't be returning to the franchise.

Jacobs was then asked for any insight into the team's QB search, and he had some surprising info to reveal.

Raiders Quarterback Rumors

First off, Jacobs said the team has let him know what direction they're looking to go this offseason and that there are three options currently on the table. Even more notably, when reporters hinted at Tom Brady being one of those candidates, the two-time Pro Bowler said Brady was only a "contingency plan" for Las Vegas.

This is a big revelation. The Raiders and Brady were connected as soon as the offseason began, with many thinking this pairing made a ton of sense in 2023. However, Brady has decided to officially call it a career, which seemed to throw a wrench in Las Vegas' plans.

If he was only a backup plan like Jacobs suggested, however, then Brady's retirement isn't as big of a deal for the Raiders as initially thought. With three mystery still options on the board, Las Vegas could go a number of different directions to fill its starting QB job in 2023.
