Josh Jacobs Gives Cryptic Response on Raiders Future Ahead of Free Agency

Updated:

Josh Jacobs future with the Las Vegas Raiders has been in question for a while now. The future was further put in doubt when the team drafted running back Zamir White in the 2022 NFL Draft.

What did Jacobs do as an answer to all of this in the final year of his contract? He delivered the best season of his career and was a crucial piece to the Raiders' offense. White turned out to be a non-factor this season, but his presence on the roster is still felt.

Now, preparing to be a free agent for the first time in his career, Jacobs's future still remains just as murky as it was a year ago. When asked about it by reporters on Monday, Jacobs gave a cryptic response.

It's clear Jacobs has done everything in his power to earn a new contract and keep his spot as the starting running back on this team. He rushed for an NFL-leading 1,653 yards (a career high) and 12 touchdowns (tied for a career-high). He also added 400 yards in the air, another career-best.

But the Raiders are a team that could be going through a whole bunch of changes this offseason. Quarterback Derek Carr's future is just as unknown as Jacobs'. Head coach Josh McDaniels is reportedly interested in bringing in one of his old quarterbacks from New England by either signing Tom Brady or trading for Jimmy Garoppolo.

Whether Jacobs stays or returns to Las Vegas, it's clear he's proven he can be one of the most productive running backs in the NFL for whoever signs him.
