Josh Jacobs Fantasy Outlook For Week 3 Takes a Dive After Latest Injury Update

Josh Jacobs Fantasy Outlook For Week 3 Takes a Dive After Latest Injury Update

Updated:

Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs raised concerns when he missed practice on Thursday and Friday with an undisclosed illness. Fantasy managers have been keeping tabs on the veteran rusher, wondering if he'll be healthy enough to face the Tennessee Titans on Sunday in Week 3 action.

Unfortunately, the latest Jacobs injury update is far from encouraging.

Raiders insider Cassie Soto reported on Friday that Jacobs did not travel with the team to Nashville. While the Raiders could still bring him over before the game, it's usually not a good sign when a player doesn't travel with the rest of the roster.

With Jacobs' playing status now up in the air, his fantasy outlook has certainly taken a dive just over 24 hours before kickoff in a game where the Raiders are only favored by 1.5 points on the road on FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.

Josh Jacobs Fantasy Outlook

Even if Jacobs does play, there's a good chance that he won't be at 100%. He's already missed two practices this week and may not be in full game shape. Besides, he's already struggled enough as it is when healthy this season, which has contributed to his team's 0-2 start.

Jacobs has recorded just 17.4 fantasy points through two games this season, ranking as the RB32 in PPR formats. For reference, he scored 17 fantasy points alone in his first game of the 2021 NFL season, highlighting just how disappointing this campaign has been.

If the 24-year-old doesn't play, there's a good chance that rookie RB Zamir White could see his touches significantly increase. While the Raiders also have veterans like Brandon Bolden and Ameer Abdullah in their backfield, the duo predominantly works in the passing game, whereas White excels on the ground.

Nevertheless, it'll likely be a running back-by-committee approach for Las Vegas if Jacobs sits in Week 3. Even if he suits up, it's probably best for fantasy managers to pivot away from the Raiders backfield if possible for the week.
