Joe Burrow Breaks Silence on Justin Reid's Trash Talk Before Week 13

Updated:

Joe Burrow and most of the Cincinnati Bengals paid little attention to Kansas City Chiefs' safety Justin Reid's trash talk before their clash on Sunday. Instead, Burrow and his squad let their play do the talking.

Burrow is now 3-0 all-time against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, far outperforming his elite QB counterpart. The Bengals' signal caller ended the day with just under 300 passing yards, 2 touchdowns and 0 interceptions and an impressive 126.6 rating.

This silence didn't mean he was unaware of the trash talk, though. Burrow finally addressed Reid's criticism with a badass response after the win.

Burrow told reporters, "I would have cared a lot more if [Justin Reid] knew what he was talking about." They call him "Cool Joe Burrow" for a reason.

For reference, Reid went after Hayden Hurst and Tee Higgins, vowing to shut them down by mocking their lack of abilities as pass-catchers. It's unclear if he intended to shut down Hurst or Higgins, because he incorrectly referred to one (or both) of them as Tyler Higbee (a tight end for the Los Angeles Rams).

Reid ended the games with just four tackles and not a single pass defended. And wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase was well aware of the talk during the game. He drew a taunting penalty after Higgins scored the Bengals' second TD on Sunday afternoon.

Burrow's response is a classic example of the legendary postgame resposne of "box score." And that's all it took. The Bengals rallied with 10 unanswered points in the final frame and continue to own the Chiefs in recent years.
