The Atlanta Hawks are back in action Monday night as they face the Portland Trail Blazers at 10 p.m. ET. One player's status to keep an eye on ahead of tip-off is Hawks star Trae Young, who's currently dealing with some ankle soreness.

Trae Young Injury Update (1/30/2023)

With tip-off just hours away, Young's status is still up in the air. Atlanta announced on Sunday that the two-time All-Star is questionable to face the Trail Blazers, meaning it won't be shocking if he winds up being a game-time decision.

Young has been relatively healthy throughout his career and that's unlikely to change with this injury not appearing to be anything major. However, it's worth pointing out that the former Oklahoma Sooner has dealt with minor ankle injuries in the past, making it interesting to see how Atlanta handles his current situation.

The Hawks are a worse team when Young misses time, as proven by their 12-16 record in the 28 games he's missed in his career. They've also lost the last three games he's missed this season. Entering Monday's matchup, Young paces all Atlanta players in points (27.2) and assists (9.9) per game.

Nevertheless, ankle soreness shouldn't keep Young sidelined for long. If he doesn't play tonight as a precaution, he'll likely suit up on the road against the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday.

Trae Young Fantasy Outlook and Prop Bets Today

Young isn't currently listed with any props available on FanDuel Sportsbook's NBA odds with his status TBD. Meanwhile, Atlanta is projected as a 2-point road underdog against Portland. Still, the Hawks' lineup is healthy outside of Young, whereas the Trail Blazers have already ruled out Ibou Badji and Justise Winslow while Jusuf Nurkic and Josh Hart are both questionable. Back the total finishing under 236.5 (-110 odds) with all of these injuries.

If Young plays, he might not be worth the look. While he had a whopping 50 FanDuel fantasy points in his last outing, he's too risky to take at $9,700. One wrong move could tweak his ankle and the last thing you need is a huge chunk of your budget wasted on an early exit. For tonight, keep Young out of your DFS lineup.
