Is Nikola Jokic Playing Tonight? (Latest Injury Updates and News for Nuggets vs Warriors on April 2)

Updated:

The Denver Nuggets are back in action Sunday night as they take on the Golden State Warriors at 8:30 p.m. ET. One major question ahead of tip-off pertains to the health of star center Nikola Jokic, who's on the injury report once again.

Nikola Jokic Injury Update (4/2/2023)

Jokic's status is murky heading into Sunday's game. The MVP contender is officially listed as questionable for this contest due to a lingering right calf injury. That makes him a pregame decision at best, but his recent absences could hint at another night on the bench for the Joker.

Jokic has missed Denver's past two games due to right calf tightness. His absence began on March 30, and he sat out the Nuggets' back-to-back the very next day as well. The Serbian has been very reliable during the 2022-23 campaign, playing in 67 of a possible 77 contests so far.

Denver will certainly feel Jokic's absence if he's out. The big man is in the midst of another incredible campaign, averaging 24.9 points, 11.9 rebounds and 9.9 assists per game for the 1-seed Nuggets. Mike Malone's team has gone just 3-7 in games without the triple-doubt threat this season, including losing two straight entering tonight's action.

Considering Denver has its sights set on a deep playoff run, it'd be no surprise to see the team be ultra-cautious with Jokic and sit him once again on Sunday.

Nikola Jokic Fantasy Outlook and Prop Bets Today

Jokic is not listed among the available prop bets for the Nuggets-Warriors game, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's NBA odds, but neither are any Denver players right now. Golden State is currently projected as a 2.5-point underdog, though, which could signal some optimism that Jokic returns. Bettors should keep a close eye on the big man's status ahead of tip-off.

Jokic is listed among the top options on the FanDuel DFS slate tonight, checking in with the third-most expensive price tag at $11,700. A fully healthy Jokic is certainly worth it considering he's averaging 55.8 FanDuel fantasy points per game, but his injury concerns are enough to fade him even if he does return.
