Is LeBron James Playing Tonight? (Latest Injury Updates and News for Lakers vs Timberwolves on March 31)

Updated:

The Los Angeles Lakers are back in action Friday night t as they face the Minnesota Timberwolves at 8 p.m. ET on NBA TV. One player's status to keep an eye on ahead of tip-off is LeBron James, who continues to deal with a foot injury.

LeBron James Injury Update (3/31/2023)

James is once again listed as questionable to suit up as he works through right foot soreness that has been bothering him for a while. He was in the same situation on Wednesday before going on to log 25 points (10-of-19 shooting), 7 rebounds, and 4 assists in 31 minutes against the Chicago Bulls.

James missed 13 games in March with this same injury, but there are no signs that he will be sidelined in a game that has massive playoff implications. The Lakers are only 1.5 games back of the Golden State Warriors for the No. 6 seed, which would allow them to avoid the dreaded play-in tournament.

The 19-time All-Star has proven that age is just a number this season as he is averaging a team-high 29.2 points to go along with 8.4 rebounds and 6.8 assists per game. James' presence has meant a lot for LA considering they own a 13-14 record without him on the court. That will not get the job done.

LeBron James Fantasy Outlook and Prop Bets Today

LeBron James is listed with over/unders of 26.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists on FanDuel Sportsbook's NBA odds, which is a great sign for his availability tonight. I lean toward backing him to record under 5.5 assists (-130) as he hasn't tallied more than 5 assists in any of his last four games against Minnesota. The Timberwolves allow only 24.9 opponent assists per game (No. 13 in NBA).

James is listed among the top options on the FanDuel DFS slate, checking in with the fifth-most expensive price tag overall ($10,600). That should come as no surprise considering he is averaging 50.1 FanDuel fantasy points per game and is facing a Minnesota squad that allows 115.2 points per home game (No. 21 in NBA). Just have a backup plan ready to go in case James suffers a setback.
