Is Brandon Ingram Playing Tonight? (Latest Injury Updates and News for Nuggets vs. Pelicans on Jan. 24)

Updated:

The New Orleans Pelicans Suns are back in action Tuesday night as they face the Denver Nuggets at 8 p.m. ET. One player's status to keep an eye on ahead of tip-off is Brandon Ingram, who's been out since late November due to a toe injury.

Brandon Ingram Injury Update (1/24/2023)

It doesn't appear Ingram's return will come tonight. He's listed as doubtful on the team's injury report for Tuesday's contest, which would mark his 29th straight missed game for New Orleans. However, there is optimism he could be back in the lineup soon after participating in 5-on-5 work this week.

Ingram even being listed as doubtful is an upgrade from his usual "out" designation, so the forward is making legitimate progress in his recovery. His return to full 5-on-5 in practice is one of the final steps before he takes the floor in a live game again. Assuming he has no setbacks, the All-Star could be back in action very soon.

In the meantime, the Pelicans will look to survive another game without Ingram and fellow forward Zion Williamson, who's missed the last 10 contests due a hamstring injury. Despite their health woes, New Orleans currently sits No. 4 in the Western Conference with a 26-21 record.

Brandon Ingram Fantasy Outlook and Prop Bets Today

Ingram isn't currently listed with any props available, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's NBA odds, which is another sign his status is in jeopardy. Assuming he sits, Trey Murphy figures to have a prominent role once again for the Pels. He's helped provide some scoring from the forward spot with Ingram and Williamson both sidelined, notching at least 15 points in five of his last six games. He could easily hit the over (-111) on his 14.5-point total tonight as one of New Orleans' primary options.

Speaking of Murphy, he's a prime play on FanDuel DFS. He's averaging a solid 27.5 FanDuel fantasy points over his last six outings as he plays a key part in this offense while the Pelicans' stars are sidelined. At a price tag of just $5,300, Murphy is an excellent value target given his sizable starting role for New Orleans.
