Hurricanes vs Islanders Prediction, Odds & Best Bet for NHL Playoffs Game 4 (Carolina Returns to Form)

Updated:

The 2022-23 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs continue on Sunday, April 23, featuring the Carolina Hurricanes going head-to-head with the New York Islanders in Game 4 of their series.

Hurricanes vs Islanders Game 4 Info

  • Series: CAR leads 2-1
  • Date: Sunday, April 23, 2023
  • Time: 1 p.m. ET

The Islanders have a pep in their step after tallying a 5-1 victory over the Hurricanes in Game 3, cutting the series deficit in half. The game was tied 1-1 at the second intermission, but 4 goals from New York in the span of 2:18 — an NHL playoff record — helped New York seal Carolina's fate.

Hurricanes vs Islanders Betting Trends

  • Carolina is 5-1 straight up in its last six games against the Islanders.
  • The Islanders are 5-0 straight up in their last five home games.
  • The total has hit the under in nine of Carolina's last 13 games.
  • The total has hit the over in five of the Islanders' last seven games in April.

Hurricanes vs Islanders Prediction & Pick

Game 3 was looking evenly matched before Carolina completely fell apart in the third period. They're much better than that late-game performance showed, so I expect them to bounce back in Game 4. That's especially true considering that the Hurricanes have won seven of their past eight road games against the Islanders.

Besides, New York's performance Friday was hardly perfect with the Islanders coughing up the puck 21 times compared to Carolina's 11 giveaways. I also don't expect Lane Lambert's club to score 5 goals again on Hurricanes goaltender Antti Raanta, who is 4-2 with a 2.26 goals-against average and .924 save percentage in his last seven starts against New York.

The Islanders had their fun and gave the crowd something to cheer about in Game 3, but it's the Hurricanes' time to return to form.

Final Score Prediction: Hurricanes: 3 | Islanders: 1

Hurricanes vs Islanders Best Bet

The Hurricanes are too deep and talented to lose back-to-back games to the Islanders. After all, Carolina swept New York 4-0 during the regular season and has won six of the last seven matchups overall. The Game 3 loss was a minor setback and I fully expect head coach Rod Brind'Amour to get his players back on the same page.

It'll be another relatively close game, but expect the Hurricanes to put the Islanders back in their place.

Bet: Hurricanes Moneyline (+102)
