Hurricanes vs Devils Betting Trends

  • Carolina is 8-2 straight up (SU) in its last 10 games.
  • New Jersey is 6-2 SU in its last eight home games against Carolina.
  • The total has hit the Over in four of Carolina's last six road games.
  • The total has hit the Over in five of New Jersey's last six games as the favorite.

Hurricanes vs Devils Prediction & Pick

The Boston Bruins' historic campaign has led to people overlooking how good the Hurricanes are. Rod Brind'Amour's club — which finished second in the NHL with 113 points — has completely dominated the Devils, outscoring them 11-2 on aggregate while heavily leading in shots (59-48) this series.

Even with home ice on their side, it's hard trusting the Devils, who are 2-7 SU in their last nine clashes with the Hurricanes. New Jersey averaging just 2.3 goals in those games plays a role in the lack of success — something I don't see changing. After all, Andersen has been great for Carolina, going 3-0 with a 0.97 goals-against average and .963 save percentage over postseason starts.

It's going to be even harder for the Devils to come back as long as Akira Schmid and Vitek Vanecek continue struggling in the crease. The Hurricanes might be well-known for their defensive ways, but skilled players like Kotkaniemi, Sebastian Aho, and Martin Necas can take advantage of any slumping goalies.

Showing very few weak spots in the first two games of this series, back the Hurricanes to take a commanding 3-0 lead.

Final Score Prediction: Hurricanes: 4 | Devils: 3

Hurricanes vs Devils Best Bet

The Hurricanes shouldn't have any problems scoring more than 2.5 goals in Game 4. After all, they've scored five-plus in each of the series' first two contests and are averaging four in their last five outings. With how poorly the Devils' goaltenders have played, tallying at least three on Sunday shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Whether they win or lose, I'd be shocked if the Hurricanes don't score at least three goals against the Devils.

Bet: Hurricanes Total Goals — Over 2.5 (-116)
