Heisman Trophy Qualifications

This is the first time since 2018 that a group of four quarterbacks represent the entire cast of Heisman Trophy finalists. It has some fans wondering what exactly goes into the Heisman Trophy qualifications.

The award is voted on by 870 media members, living previous Heisman winners and a collective fan vote. There's no stipulation about which position is awarded the trophy but rather the "most outstanding college football player" in the country any given year. Traditionally, running backs and quarterbacks dominate this award, although four wide receivers have won as well as three defenders.
