Has Steph Curry Ever Lost a First Round Series? NBA Playoffs History and Results

Updated:

Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors are in unfamiliar territory after going down 2-0 in the first round against the Sacramento Kings. There's always a chance the defending champs turn it around, but Sacramento's play to begin the series can't be ignored.

With the Warriors facing an early hole, it's caused some to think back on Curry's illustrious playoff history and wonder if a first round elimination would be a first for the former Finals MVP.

Has Stephen Curry Ever Lost in the First Round of the NBA Playoffs?

Though it's hard to imagine for the generational talent, Steph Curry has lost once in the first round of the NBA Playoffs. In the final year of Mark Jackson's tenure as head coach, Curry and company matched up against the Los Angeles Clippers during the 2014 postseason. Despite Curry's efforts, Golden State eventually fell in seven games, exiting the playoffs after just one series.

That loss certainly doesn't fall on Curry's shoulders, however. He recorded 23.0 points and 8.4 assists while averaging a whopping 42.4 minutes per game. After the Warriors fired Mark Jackson following that series, Curry and co. went on to win the NBA Finals the very next season.
