Green Bay Packers Training Camp 2022 Dates, Schedule & Location

Updated:

Teams across the NFL are preparing to ramp up for the 2022 regular season with the start of training camp. Of course, the Green Bay Packers will be one of the squads to take the field as the preseason nears.

Here's everything Packers fans need to know about training camp this year.

When Does Green Bay Packers Training Camp Start?

Each team has two separate start dates for training camp, as rookies are often required to report a few days before veterans. Defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt and the rest of the NFL newbies will report to training camp on Friday, July 22.

Then, on Tuesday, July 26, Green Bay's veterans are mandated to report for training camp. This gives vets only a few weeks to prepare for the team's first preseason game on Aug. 13.

Packers Training Camp Dates 2022

Packers rookies are reporting for training camp on July 22, followed by vets on July 26. Green Bay is then scheduled to host open practices up until Wednesday, Aug. 17. That'll be the final day of workouts before the team's second preseason game takes place.

Green Bay opens its preseason schedule on Friday, Aug. 12 against the San Francisco 49ers. The Packers will then play again on Aug. 19 (vs. the New Orleans Saints) and Aug. 25 (at the Kansas City Chiefs) before the regular season begins.

The Packers will suit up on Sunday, Sept. 11 against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 1 action.

Packers Training Camp News

The Packers still have question marks surrounding the wide receiver position. It'll be interesting to see if veteran Sammy Watkins or rookie Christian Watson stands out during camp. The team also tried out eight-year pro John Brown on Wednesday, but no signing has been reported.

Green Bay's defense is basically set ahead of training camp, except for an empty inside linebacker spot alongside De'Vondre Campbell. It's either going to go to Krys Barnes, who posted 81 tackles in 13 starts last year, or rookie Quay Walker, who posted 65 tackles and 3 pass breakups in his final year at Georgia.
