The Green Bay Packers are one of the league's most historic franchises, though they've usually been known for great quarterback play. But that doesn't mean they haven't had their fair share of talented running backs over the years.
With that in mind, let's take a look at the three greatest running backs in Packers history.
3. Paul Hornung (1957-66)
Paul Hornung was a monster for Green Bay, getting three straight Pro Bowl nods and making back-to-back First-Team All-Pro appearances from 1959-61. He led the NFL in touchdowns in the 1960 season with 13 scores, and he even served as the team's kicker. He's third all-time in rushing touchdowns for Green Bay. More importantly, the Hall-of-Famer was part of four NFL Championships and the first Super Bowl team.
2. Ahman Green (2000-06, 09)
Ahman Green was one of the best running backs of the early 2000s. The best stretch of his career came from 2001-04, when Green racked up an insane 7,302 yards from scrimmage – the third-most in the NFL during that span. That stretch included a historic 2003 campaign that saw Green tally 1,883 rushing yards and 20 total touchdowns while averaging a robust 5.3 yards per carry. The four-time Pro Bowler will always be a Packers legend, and he's still the franchise's all-time leader in rushing yards.
1. Jim Taylor (1958-66)
Green may have the superior single-season numbers, but it's hard to ignore what Jim Taylor meant to this franchise. A five-time Pro Bowler, three-time First-Team All-Pro member, NFL MVP and Super Bowl I champion, Taylor is one of the most accomplished Packers ever. Taylor is only 115 rushing yards behind Green, and he's the team's all-time leader in rushing touchdowns with 81 scores. Sure, he was a fullback, but he was also a top option at running back for the Packers. No denying the Hall-of-Fame member deserves a spot on this list.
