Golden State Warriors First Round Playoff Schedule 2023 (Times, Dates and TV Channel for Kings Series)

Golden State Warriors First Round Playoff Schedule 2023 (Times, Dates and TV Channel for Kings Series)

Updated:

The Golden State Warriors are headed back to the NBA Playoffs for the ninth time in the last 11 years following a successful 2022-23 season. Head coach Steve Kerr's team has its sight set on capturing another Larry O'Brien Trophy, but up first is an opening round series against the Sacramento Kings.

Here's everything you need to know about the Warriors-Kings first round series.

What Seed Are the Warriors in the 2023 NBA Playoffs?

The Warriors ended the 2022-23 regular season with a 44-38 record, which was good enough to finish No. 6 in the Western Conference. As is tradition, the 6-seed faces the 3-seed in the first round of the playoffs. The Kings concluded the campaign as the No. 3 team in the west with a 48-34 record.

It's worth noting the Warriors actually tied with the Los Angeles Clippers, who also had a 44-38 record, but the Clippers won the head-to-head tiebreaker. That placed LA ahead of Golden State in the final standings. This is the first time the Warriors and Kings will meet in a postseason series.

Who Are the Warriors Playing in the 2023 Playoffs?

As the 6-seed, the Warriors play the 3-seed Kings in the first round of the NBA Playoffs. This will be a typical best-of-seven series that follows the 2-2-1-1-1 format. That means the better seed (Sacramento) will host Games 1 and 2, plus Games 5 and 7 if those are necessary. The worse seed (Golden State) hosts Games 3 and 4, plus Game 6 if that is necessary.

Looking ahead, if the Warriors win this series and advance, they would face either the 2-seed Memphis Grizzlies or the to-be-determined 7-seed in the Western Conference semifinals, as the NBA playoff matchups do not re-seed in each round.
