The 2023 USFL season begins on Saturday, April 15. One matchup that fans won't want to miss that day is a clash between the New Jersey Generals and Birmingham Stallions.

The Generals and Stallions finished the 2022 regular season as the best teams in the league with identical 9-1 records. Unfortunately for the Generals, they couldn't get the job in the postseason, losing to the Philadelphia Stars in the semifinals. It's going to take a lot for the Generals to win tonight. The Stallions only lost one game last season for a reason. Now, they'll be in high spirits with a raucous crowd filling Protective Stadium, looking to take the next step to the second of back-to-back championships.

As good as the Generals were last year, their roster isn't nearly as strong now. Their two biggest losses this offseason by far were starting quarterback Luis Perez as well as wideout and reigning USFL MVP KaVontae Turpin. Considering how the duo played a huge part in New Jersey going 9-1 last regular season, the team is bound to take a step back.

That isn't to say this game will be a complete blowout, but the Stallions have the talent and tools to pull ahead as the game goes on. Until the Generals prove they can hang with the champs, this is Birmingham's game to lose.
