Gardner Minshew Prepared for 2022 Season in Bizarre Way

Updated:

Philadelphia Eagles backup quarterback Garnder Minshew is one of the most interesting NFL personalities in recent years. He clearly marches to the beat of his own drum and doesn't shy away from who is his, proven by his numerous fashion statements and brutally honest personality.

Well, Minshew has been making headlines again since Friday morning. In an interview with ESPN, it was revealed that the 26-year-old has prepared for the upcoming 2022 season in a bizarre way: by living in an old prison bus.

Philadelphia Eagles News

Minshew said in an Instagram post that living on a bus is something he wanted to do since high school. To the veteran QB, living that way "affords me a place to come and focus." It also helped that he was parked outside of a gym owned by his trainer, Anthony Tumbarello.

Ensuring his comfortability, Minshew added various perks to his bus, such as a fridge and air conditioning. When it came to using the bathroom, he used the gym's facilities when needed and opted to shower outside in shorts. Needless to say, that's pretty on brand for the Flowood, Mississippi, native.

As fun as the bus life was, it also helped Minshew create an efficient training schedule with Tumbarello. They'd begin training at 8:30 a.m. ET every day, leading to Tumbarello believing that not only is the QB "stronger" and "faster" than before, but is now the "best version of Gardner Minshew."

Even though Jalen Hurts is the Eagles' starter, they're fortunate enough to have one of the best backups in the game in Minshew. The former 2019 sixth-round pick started two games for Philadelphia last season, completing 68.3% of his passes for 439 yards and four touchdowns with an interception.

Eagles Super Bowl Odds

Minshew's QB coach, Denny Thompson, said that it's "Super Bowl or bust" for the gunslinger in 2022. Unfortunately, a championship run is could be an uphill battle for the Eagles, who own +3000 odds (T-No. 14) to win Super Bowl LVII on FanDuel Sportsbook.
