Gabriel Davis Fantasy Outlook 2022 (Can He Build Off of Last Season's Playoff Performance?)

Gabriel Davis is one young player that the Buffalo Bills hope becomes a major contributor during the 2022 NFL season. The 23-year-old wide receiver is coming off a decent sophomore campaign that saw him end the fantasy season as the WR58 in PPR formats, averaging 8.4 points per game.

Having said that, Davis took a major leap during the Bills' postseason run. Naturally, fantasy managers are wondering if that performance was a one-off fluke or if the Florida native is the real deal.

Gabriel Davis Fantasy Football Outlook

Despite seeing fewer offensive snaps (571) as a sophomore compared to his rookie year (797), Davis was nearly as productive in his second NFL season. He hauled in exactly 35 catches for the second straight year, converting those opportunities into 549 yards and five touchdowns.

With Cole Beasley and Emmanuel Sanders gone, the duo's 184 targets from last season are up for grabs. Stefon Diggs will likely see an uptick in his work, but the Bills are counting on Davis to emerge as the team's No. 2 wideout.

Davis showed flashes of his potential during the 2022 Divisional Round against the Kansas City Chiefs, hauling in 8-of-10 targets for 201 yards and four touchdowns. Production like that obviously isn't sustainable, but that performance has left Buffalo wanting more.

Is he capable of stepping up consistently? Only time will tell, but there's clearly something special in Davis. Fortunately, he has a world-class quarterback in Josh Allen to help him out.

Gabriel Davis Projections

Projections from the NFL odds on FanDuel Sportsbook are mixed as far as Davis is concerned. On one hand, he's available at just +5000 (T-No. 26) to lead the league in receiving yards next season. At the same time, he owns the 12th-best odds (+2500) to finish with the most receiving TDs.

FanDuel lists Davis' projected receiving yards total at 850.5 with -112 odds on both the over and under. He's yet to come close to hitting that mark and assuming he averages 15.7 yards per reception like he did last year, it'd take him about 54 catches to hit the over on this prop.

As far as a projected TD total goes, FanDuel has set Davis' total at 7.5 with -112 odds on both sides again. Considering that he's averaged 6.5 receiving TDs in his first two NFL seasons, finishing with eight or more is a real possibility.

Is Gabriel Davis a Good Fantasy Football Pick?

If Davis can live up to the hype, he's the type of player that can make a lot of fantasy managers' seasons. He's playing in one of the NFL's best offenses and has a great opportunity to run with the No. 2 WR role. It doesn't get much juicier than that, assuming that he can take advantage of the situation.

For now, Davis ranks as the WR31 on The Duel's PPR rankings. Fantasy Pros lists him as having an average draft position of 79.3, making him someone that likely won't be on the board after Round 7.

You shouldn't draft Davis to be your top wideout option, but he is a WR3 that has WR2 potential if everything goes right.
