Raiders Week 1 Opponent for 2023 Season

The Las Vegas Raiders' Week 1 matchup takes place on the road against the Denver Broncos. Last season, they opened with a road game on Sunday afternoon against the Los Angeles Chargers. The Raiders fell by a score of 24-19 as quarterback Derek Carr logged a trio of costly interceptions.

Raiders' 2023 Strength of Schedule

According to Sharp Football Analysis, the Raiders have the fourth-hardest schedule in the NFL for the 2023-24 season. This is based on the projected win totals for Las Vegas' opponent for the upcoming campaign. The Raiders will face a tall task given their upcoming slate, as just two teams (Chiefs, Bengals) made the playoffs last year with a top-10 schedule in terms of difficulty.

The Raiders' 2023-24 opponents went a combined 121-114-2 last season. They'll face a trio of teams in the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, and Minnesota Vikings that won at least 13 games during the 2022-23 campaign.

FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds currently list the Raiders at 6.5 wins, with -144 odds on the over and +118 odds on the under. Las Vegas won only six games during the 2022-23 season and has recorded less than seven wins in six of the last 11 NFL campaigns overall.

The Raiders made a change this offseason as quarterback Derek Carr was shipped out and Jimmy Garoppolo was brought in to replace him. Garoppolo has been a reliable QB throughout his career, but is coming off a foot injury that kept him out for months during the 2022-23 season. His injury history and lack of experience with players like Davante Adams and Josh Jacobs could lead to some unexpected losses. That's already enough to warrant backing the under here considering 10 of Las Vegas' 17 games next season will come against opponents that posted a winning record last year.

Bet – Raiders: Under 6.5 Wins (+118)

In the Super Bowl market, the Raiders currently are tied (with the Atlanta Falcons) for the 11th-worst odds at +5500. They trail every other team in the AFC West division in the Kansas City Chiefs (+600), Los Angeles Chargers (+2500) and Denver Broncos (+4500).
