Panthers Week 1 Opponent for 2023 Season

The Carolina Panthers' Week 1 matchup for the 2023 campaign is a road game against the Atlanta Falcons. Last season, they opened with a home game against the Cleveland Browns. Unfortunately, the Panthers couldn't take advantage of Deshaun Watson's suspension, falling 26-24 to the Browns.

Panthers' 2023 Strength of Schedule

According to Sharp Football Analysis, the Panthers have the third-easiest schedule in the NFL for the 2023-24 campaign. This is based on the projected win totals of Carolina's opponents for the upcoming season. It'll be interesting to see if the Panthers can capitalize on their favorable schedule given that four teams made the playoffs last year with a bottom-10 schedule in terms of difficulty.

The Panthers' 2023-24 opponents went a combined 108-128-2 last season. They'll only face two teams that finished with double-digit win totals (Vikings, Cowboys) during the 2022-23 campaign.

FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds currently list the Panthers at 7.5 wins, with -122 on the over and +100 on the under. Accomplishing the Over on that total could be easier said than done considering how Carolina has missed the mark in each of the five last seasons.

Although the Panthers aren't a playoff team just yet, hitting Over 7.5 victories is well within the realm of possibility. After all, they finished with seven victories in 2022 and now add franchise quarterback Bryce Young to the mix. Carolina has surrounded him with solid weapons as well as head coach Frank Reich, who's an improvement over Matt Rhule.

As long as they don't suffer a key injury, the Panthers are well on their way to eight-plus wins.

Bet – Panthers: Over 7.5 Wins (-122)

In the Super Bowl market, the Panthers currently are in a five-way tie for the sixth-worst odds at +6000. Those odds are only ahead of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+7500) as far as NFC South teams go while also being tied for third-worst in the NFC overall.
