Jets Week 1 Opponent for 2023 Season

The New York Jets' Week 1 matchup for the 2023 campaign will be against the Buffalo Bills, who also play in the AFC East. The two division rivals will clash on Monday Night Football on Sept. 11 at MetLife Stadium in a home game for the Jets.

Jets' 2023 Strength of Schedule

According to Sharp Football Analysis, the Jets have the eighth-hardest schedule in the NFL for the 2023-24 campaign. This is based on the projected win totals of New York's opponents for the upcoming season. The Jets will face a tall task given their upcoming slate, as just two teams made the playoffs last year with a top-10 schedule in terms of difficulty.

The Jets' 2023-24 opponents went a combined 125-109-3 last season. They'll face a quartet of teams in the Philadelphia Eagles, Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys, and Kansas City Chiefs that won at least 12 games during the 2022-23 campaign.

FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds currently list the Jets at 9.5 wins, with -134 on the over and +110 on the under. Though New York hasn't finished with 10+ wins since 2015, the arrival of future Hall-of-Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers has left the fanbase hopeful that the trend will end.

Although the Jets have one of the harder schedules in the NFL, winning 10 games isn't out of the question. After all, they finished last season with seven victories — tied for their most since 2015 — and now add Rodgers to the mix, who's easily an upgrade over the likes of Zach Wilson, Joe Flacco and Mike White. With New York already having one of the better defensive units in the league as well, it'd be disappointing if the Jets don't win at least 10 times in 2023.

Bet – Jets: Over 9.5 Wins (-134)

In the Super Bowl market, the Jets currently are tied (with the Dallas Cowboys) for the sixth-best odds at +1400. They only trail the Kansas City Chiefs (+600), Philadelphia Eagles (+850), Buffalo Bills (+900), San Francisco 49ers (+950) and Cincinnati Bengals (+1000).
