Falcons Primetime Games 2023

The Falcons are one of four NFL teams (Texans, Colts and Cardinals) without a single primetime game during the 2023-24 campaign.

Falcons Week 1 Opponent for 2023 Season

The Atlanta Falcons' Week 1 matchup for the 2023 campaign is a home game against the Carolina Panthers. Last season, they opened with a road game against the New Orleans Saints, ultimately falling 27-26 in enemy territory.

Falcons' 2023 Strength of Schedule

According to Sharp Football Analysis, the Falcons have the second-easiest schedule in the NFL for the 2023-24 campaign. This is based on the projected win totals of Atlanta's opponents for the upcoming season. On paper, the Falcons have a decent shot at a postseason appearance as four teams made the playoffs last year with a bottom-10 schedule in terms of difficulty.

The Falcons' 2023-24 opponents went a combined 97-138-3 last season. The Minnesota Vikings are the only team they'll face that finished with a double-digit win total (13) last campaign.

FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds currently list the Falcons at 8.5 wins, with -110 on the over and -110 on the under. The Over on this prop has eluded Atlanta for quite some time as the franchise has gone five consecutive seasons without winning at least nine games.

Although nine wins are only two more than they had last season, I don't like the Falcons' odds of hitting the Over on this wager. It remains to be seen if Desmond Ridder can handle being an everyday starting quarterback. The defense also needs to show major improvements after allowing the 10th-most points in 2022. Sure, they made several offseason changes on defense, however, it remains to be seen if they'll pay off on the gridiron.

After back-to-back sub-.500 campaigns to begin Arthur Smith's head coaching career, the under is the right call.

Bet – Falcons: Under 8.5 Wins (-110)

In the Super Bowl market, the Falcons currently are tied (with the Las Vegas Raiders) for the 11th-worst odds at +5500. Those odds are seventh-worst among NFC teams, however, they're only worse than the New Orleans Saints (+3500) as far as NFC South franchises go.
