Colts Primetime Games 2023

The Colts are one of four NFL teams (Falcons, Texans, Cardinals) without a single primetime game during the 2023-24 campaign.

Colts Week 1 Opponent for 2023 Season

The Indianapolis Colts' Week 1 matchup for the 2023 campaign is a home game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Last season, they opened with a road game against the rival Houston Texans. Unfortunately, the Colts couldn't beat one of the worst teams in football, playing to a 20-20 tie.

Colts' 2023 Strength of Schedule

According to Sharp Football Analysis, the Colts have the fourth-easiest schedule in the NFL for the 2023-24 campaign. This is based on the projected win totals of Indianapolis' opponents for the upcoming season. Only two teams with a bottom-five schedule (Giants, Eagles) in 2022 qualified for the postseason.

The Colts' 2023-24 opponents went a combined 105-131-1 last season. It's harder to find a schedule easier than theirs considering how they only face two teams that recorded 10-plus wins last season (Bengals, Ravens).

FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds currently list the Colts at 6.5 wins, with -118 on the over and -104 on the under. Indianapolis has won at least seven games in four of the last five seasons but failed to do so last year for the first time since 2017.

The Colts look better coming out of the NFL Draft than they did going into it, however, I'm unsure if their offseason moves will add three more victories to last year's win total. Likely No. 1 quarterback Garder Minshew has never won more than six games in a campaign and hasn't started more than two games since 2020. Besides, if Minshew up hurt, Indy will have to put either Anthony Richardson or Sam Ehlinger in a role that neither is ready for just yet.

Erring on the side of caution, I'll take the Colts finishing with fewer than 6.5 wins for at least one more season. It's a rebuilding year, after all.

Bet – Colts: Under 6.5 Wins (-104)

In the Super Bowl market, the Colts currently hold the third-worst odds at +10000. Those odds only rank ahead of the Arizona Cardinals and Houston Texans, who are tired at +18000.
