Buccaneers Week 1 Opponent for 2023 Season

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' Week 1 matchup for the 2023 campaign is a road game against the Minnesota Vikings. Last season, they opened with a road game on Sunday Night Football against the Dallas Cowboys. The Buccaneers won by a score of 19-3 as running back Leonard Fournette tallied 127 yards on the ground.

Buccaneers' 2023 Strength of Schedule

According o Sharp Football Analysis, the Buccaneers have the 13th-easiest schedule in the NFL for the 2023-24 campaign. This is based on the projected win totals of Tampa Bay's opponents for the upcoming season. The Buccaneers rank just above the middle of the pack, which gives either Baker Mayfield or Kyle Trask a chance to make an impression as the team's new starting quarterback.

The Buccaneers' 2023-24 opponents went a combined 117-118-2 last season. They'll face a trio of teams in the Chicago Bears, Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts that lost at least 12 games during the 2022-23 campaign.

FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds currently list the Buccaneers at 6.5 wins, with +104 odds on the over and -128 odds on the under. Tampa Bay won eight games during the 2022-23 season, but has failed to tally at least seven wins in seven of the last 14 NFL campaigns.

The Buccaneers will head in a new direction in 2023 as either Baker Mayfield or Kyle Trask will take over as the starting quarterback following Tom Brady's retirement. That wasn't the only loss Tampa Bay suffered this offseason as offensive lineman Donovan Smith and safety Mike Edwards both left in free agency. There's nothing too tough about the Buccaneer's schedule, but keep in mind they will be playing against five other division champions from last season. A rebuilding season is coming here.

Bet – Buccaneers: Under 6.5 Wins (-128)

In the Super Bowl market, the Buccaneers currently are tied (with the Tennessee Titans) for the fourth-worst odds at +7500. Tampa Bay trails every other team in the NFC South division and ranks ahead of only the Arizona Cardinals (+18000) in the NFC.
