Bengals Week 1 Opponent for 2023 Season

The Cincinnati Bengals' Week 1 matchup for the 2023 campaign is a road game against the Cleveland Browns. Last season, they opened with a home game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Unfortunately, a missed extra point at the end of the fourth quarter stopped the Bengals from winning and forced overtime, where they lost 23-20 on a buzzer-beating field goal.

Bengals' 2023 Strength of Schedule

According to Sharp Football Analysis, the Bengals have the 15th-hardest schedule in the NFL for the 2023-24 campaign. This is based on the projected win totals of Cincinnati's opponents for the upcoming season. The good news for the Bengals is that seven teams with a bottom-15 schedule qualified for the 2022-23 postseason.

The Bengals' 2023-24 opponents went a combined 120-115-2 last season. Nevertheless, they still have some challenges as they must face four times that won at least 13 games last year: the San Francisco 49ers, Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills and Minnesota Vikings.

FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds currently list the Bengals at 11.5 wins, with +110 on the over and -134 on the under. For reference, Cincinnati's 12-win campaign last year was its first since the 2015 NFL season. Before then, the most recent occurrence happened in 1988.

While the Bengals have only won 12+ games four times in their 55-year history, I see them achieving that feat this year. Sure, they face some tough opponents in 2023, but Burrow is more than capable of leading his team to victory against anyone. Outside of meetings with the Chiefs, Bills, and 49ers, Cincinnati has plenty of opportunities to stack up wins, especially if its offseason moves pay off.

Unless the Bengals play the complete opposite as they did last season, a 12-win performance isn't out of the question.

Bet – Bengals: Over 11.5 Wins (+110)

In the Super Bowl market, the Bengals currently hold the fifth-best odds at +1000. Those odds only trail the Kansas City Chiefs (+600), Philadelphia Eagles (+850), Buffalo Bills (+900), and San Francisco 49ers (+950).
