49ers Week 1 Opponent for 2023 Season

The San Francisco 49ers' Week 1 matchup for the 2023 campaign is a road game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Last season, they opened with a road game against the Chicago Bears. Despite being the heavy betting favorites, the 49ers couldn't get the job done, having been forced to leave Soldier Field with a 19-10 loss.

49ers' 2023 Strength of Schedule

According to Sharp Football Analysis, the 49ers have the 10th-easiest schedule in the NFL for the 2023-24 campaign. This is based on the projected win totals of San Francisco's opponents for the upcoming season. Things look promising for the 49ers, as four teams made the playoffs last year with a bottom-10 schedule in terms of difficulty.

The 49ers' 2023-24 opponents went a combined 129-106-2 last season. They'll face a quartet of teams in the Philadelphia Eagles, Minnesota Vikings, Dallas Cowboys, and Cincinnati Bengals that won at least 12 games during the 2022-23 campaign.

FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds currently list the 49ers at 11.5 wins, with +116 on the over and -142 on the under. Although that's a fairly big number, San Francisco has won at least 12 games twice in the past four campaigns.

The 49ers don't have an excuse not to win 12-plus games with the 10th-easiest 2023 schedule. They're one of the best NFL teams on both sides of the ball and are led by head coach Kyle Shanahan, who's led San Francisco to an average of 10.5 wins over the previous four seasons. The 49ers also swept the NFC West in 2022 and likely won't have too much of a struggle doing so again.

With the NFC as a whole looking relatively weak this fall, the 49ers are on the right path for another huge performance.

Bet – 49ers: Over 11.5 Wins (+116)

In the Super Bowl market, the 49ers currently own the fourth-best odds at +950. Those odds only trail the Kansas City Chiefs (+600), Philadelphia Eagles (+850), and Buffalo Bills (+900).
